Experimental work at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, Université Pierre et Marie Curie and École normale supérieure, Paris, France. Summa cum laude
Summary: Towards deterministic source of Rydberg atoms via dipole blockade effect mechanism in a dense and small sample of ground state Rubidium atoms magnetically trapped in a superconducting atom-chip at 4 K. In order to achieve operations based on this effect stray electric fields near the superconducting surface must be decreased and controlled. We demonstrate a simple method circumventing this problem. Microwave spectroscopy reveals extremely long coherence lifetimes, in the millisecond range, for a qubit stored in a Rydberg level superposition close to the chip surface.
Mar 2009-Nov 2014 PhD in Physics
Theoretical work under joint supervision between the Center for Optics and Photonics CEFOP, Universidad de Concepción, Chile and Laboratoire Kastler Brossel, Université Pierre et Marie Curie and École normale supérieure, Paris, France. Summa cum laude
Summary: Theoretical work in quantum information processing opened by the interaction of two Rydberg atoms (or more) within the context of cavityQED experiment but also highly relevant for the thriving field of circuit-QED.
We present a simple scheme for the fast and efficient generation of quantum superpositions of two coherent fields with different classical amplitudes in a cavity. We show that the scheme is notably more efficient than those using a
single atom.
